National Vocational Qualifications

We are pleased to offer to eligible students the opportunity to enhance their employment potential with a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Horse Care and Management with Keyskills. Students are known as Modern Apprentices.

Modern Apprentices at Wellington Riding benefit from the following:

* 10 hours guaranteed training each week
* Practical skills gained in a real life business environment
* Contracted fixed term employment
* Subsidised accommodation charges
* Free meals
* A small wage based on a sliding scale, relating to NVQ units achieved
* Free NVQ registration and portfolio
* Free assessments (i.e. no examination charge)
* Designated mentor for training and pastoral purposes
* Regular reviews and action planning

Cost to the Modern Apprentice

As for the Working Student BUT on enrolment to the NVQ training scheme, full board accommodation is provided free of charge.

The Modern Apprenticeship Scheme at Wellington Riding is intended for EU Nationals between 16 and 19 years, who have not already completed an equine NVQ or further education qualification (i.e. degree or diploma). For more information on Modern Apprenticeships, please visit:
